New Directions

No, it’s not the musical group from Glee. It’s an idea for a new series of novels that I am working on. Don’t worry, it will remain in the mystery genre, but will overlap with the fantasy crowd and the humor crowd. I guess that makes the new series “the humorous fantasy-mystery genre.”

The series will be called “The Pitbull Chihuahua Series” and is about a body-building dude, Troy Lewis, from Santa Monica who is recruited by a good wizard to undo the evil machinations wrought on the world by one of his evil enemies. Troy realizes he can’t accomplish this on his own, so he recruits former Detective Dirk Watson to help him. Together, they struggle to undo all the harm the evil wizard has done. Oh, yes, in the meantime, they have to keep Dirk out of jail and find out who framed him for a crime he didn’t commit.

Fans of the Hot Dog Detective series don’t have to fear that The Pitbull Chihuahua series will crowd out publications of more Mark MacFarland books. I am currently working on Kitchen Khemist, with firm plans to publish Itchy Intruder and Jaded Jezebel before the end of summer. Only then will I begin actual writing of the new series.

At least that’s the plan.
